This is the course introduction. We set the stage for the rest of the course to come and manage expectations. Also in this section, we discuss very important aspects of set up like naming your business and corporate structure. We also look at trademarks.
15 min - 30 minHere we review options and types of malpractice insurance policies. We note other insurance options. And we detail the specifics of and EIN, NPI number and licenses like business and resale. Where to find these applications is also covered.
30 min - 45 minWe detail other insurance beyond malpractice, like Business Liability Insurance. We also review your options for being in or out of network with insurance companies. This is a course transition to things to consider for your in-office experience. We preview what is to come in additional sections.
45 min - 1 hrsHere we review options for your decision-making framework for things like location. We dive into EHRs, forms and payment processing. We also review vendor relationships and supplies.
1 hrs - 1.25 hrsAll things digital get discussed in this section. We review website, hosting, SEO, etc.
1.25 hrs - 1.5 hrsWe conclude this course with emphasis on patient communication. We discuss how this proper setup impacts the patient experience.
1.5 hrs - 2 hrsThis is a course overview, explaining what "Your Why" means in relation to your career in practice. The details of confidence not only as an attribute but as a practice are also outlined.
2 hrs - 2.25 hrsHere, we go through an exercise in confidence and your why. These are tangible aspects that can be put into practice.
2.25 hrs - 2.5 hrsLastly, we review best practices related to the ideas of this course. Practitioners will understand how to cultivate confidence and change mindset.
2.5 hrs - 3 hrsExercises related to planning for your business and practice.

About Nell Smircina
Dr. Nell Smircina, DAOM, L.Ac., Dipl. OM is an advocate, educator and practitioner with a focus on the integration of acupuncture into America's standard of care. Dr. Nell is the President of CSOMA, California's oldest state acupuncture association and serves on the Advocacy Committee for the American Society of Acupuncturists. As the Director of Development for the American Acupuncture Council, she actively works to support the profession through many strategic initiatives, including work with WHO to further develop ICD11 codes which include Traditional Medicine diagnostics. Clinically, Dr. Nell specializes in acupuncture for optimal post-surgical recovery, an area she researched during her doctoral program. As the Founder of PIQUE Health, an integrative concierge medical practice in Beverly Hills and Scottsdale, she provides an elevated healthcare experience for patients. Dr. Nell values mentorship, and had taught in many AOM schools on the topics of practice management, professional development, and messaging. She believes being able to effectively communicate our medicine's value to the public is critical to the growth of the profession. Through teaching and coaching, she assists students and practitioners looking to have thriving businesses while helping as many people as possible. Dr. Nell has been featured as an SME on Good Day LA and Good Morning Arizona; and her work has appeared in Thrive Global and Acupuncture Today. She is a passionate international speaker on the topics of the integration of medicine and the constantly evolving healthcare industry.
Some accreditation bodies have course approval expirations. If the approval expires, you will see a notice next to the name with a date of expiration: "[Until YYYY/MM/DD]". Please factor this date into your own renewal deadline. If an approval expires, you will be able to request that it is renewed and we will submit it for you within 2 business days. Renewals normally come back to us after 30 days. If your accreditation body is not listed under the "Approved" section, you may find it under the "Pending" section. That means that it is either currently pending approval, or that it is available for you to request: "[Upon Request]". New course approvals usually come back to us after 45 days. We use an automated system within our platform that allows you to make these requests in an easy and convenient way. Just visit the course page in your Net of Knowledge account and click the "Request Approval" button at the top. Each "Course and CEUs/CPDs" purchase grants you 1 request per accreditation body. If you request a course approval and do not complete it before its new expiration date, you will need to purchase another "CEU/CPD Add-On" to make another request. If the course is ineligible for approval with an accreditation body due to their subject-matter policies, it will be listed as "[Ineligible]", and no requests will be possible for the course.
