The design of Classical Pearls Heart Pearls takes a constitutional approach to treating degenerative conditions affecting the deepest layer of the body, specifically the shaoyin Heart/Kidney axis. It strengthens declining yang energy and addresses water retention through a blend of traditional remedies, including Zhenwu Tang (True Warrior Decoction) and Fuzi Lizhong Tang (Rectify the Middle Decoction with Aconite), drawn from the 2nd-century herbal classic, Treatise on Disorders Caused by Cold (Shanghan lun). The drying effects of this formula are balanced by moistening the yin of the Heart and Lung with Shengmai San (Generate the Pulse Powder). Additionally, blood-moving herbs are included to relieve congestion and counter degeneration.

Classical Pearls are formulated according to the principles of classical alchemy by Heiner Fruehauf, Ph.D. They contain no pharmaceuticals, preservatives, dyes, yeasts, or added sugars and are independently tested for purity, identity, and the concentration of active ingredients during procurement, manufacturing, and importing. Their formulas use directly-sourced, wild-crafted, organic ingredients whenever possible and utilize full spectrum, 10:1 extracts for maximum clinical efficacy.

Classical Pearls provides ancient remedies for modern day diseases. Founded in 2008 by Dr. Heiner Fruehauf, Classical Pearls is based in Portland, Oregon. From farm to forumla, the company manages the sourcing, production, and formulation of high-quality ingredients to create unique and potent remedies inspired by classical medical texts. These formulations are carefully crafted to address the complex diseases faced by modern patients.

Classical Pearls meticulously oversees every step of the procurement process, from growing and harvesting herbs to processing, testing, and formulating their products.

Philosophy

Classical Pearls operates under several guiding principles:

Integrity in Sourcing and Preparation
As an ingredient-driven company, Classical Pearls has dedicated years of research to sourcing and manufacturing herbs for their formulas. This process includes selecting the appropriate locale (terroir), traditional growing and harvesting methods, and precise processing techniques rooted in classical medical practices.

Purity, Quality, and Potency
The formulas and raw materials used by Classical Pearls are free from pharmaceuticals, dyes, yeasts, and added sugars. All ingredients undergo independent testing in a U.S. laboratory for heavy metals, pesticides, and microbes. Each batch is tested three times during production to ensure purity, identity, and concentration of active ingredients. These strict procedures ensure the safety and potency of all products, with testing taking place in China before and after processing, and again upon arrival in the U.S. This rigorous approach to quality control contributes to the positive clinical outcomes that practitioners aim to achieve.

Relationships and Stewardship
Classical Pearls champions directly traded ingredients, maintaining strong relationships with small farmers, wild crafters, and herb distributors in China and Asia who share the company’s commitment to high-quality medicinal ingredients and environmental stewardship.

Commitment to the Clinical Roots of Chinese Medicine
Classical Pearls is part of an international movement seeking to honor and restore the classical origins of Chinese medicine. As a highly sophisticated science and deeply spiritual art form, Chinese medicine relies on simple, foundational principles that are often overlooked in modern TCM education. Through its formulas and educational initiatives, Classical Pearls strives to preserve the clinical power and efficacy of Chinese herbal medicine.

Based on over three decades of clinical experience, Classical Pearls selects, combines, and modifies tightly structured classical formulas to address contemporary diseases. The company hopes that practitioners will enhance their clinical efficacy and gain a deeper understanding of the time-honored alchemical wisdom that is slowly being forgotten.
