It includes a presentation of the 9 Star system, which is a foundational part of Chinese Medical thought. In Chinese Medical theory, the 5 Elements/10 Stems are considered related to the heavenly level. The 12 branches, 12 meridians, 12 yearly cycles are considered related to earthly level. The middle level between these is the 9 stars, the human level, between heaven and earth. Each section of the nine star map relates to one of the five elements, and 3 of the 9 star areas relate to Earth.
This class discusses these positions of the earth element on the abdomen, the direct relationship to the small intestine, and many digestive disorders that reflect on the abdomen (hara) with this exact pattern of pressure pain. Theory and didactic information is given on how to approach digestive disorders that may clearly have the diagonal 9 Star pattern of earth/small intestine pressure pain on the abdomen (hara), A base treatment of left SI 3, right Bl 62 is worked up, with multiple variations. Emotional and physical trauma accompany many painful digestive conditions, and is addressed using acupuncture points over related brain pain/memory areas.

About Kiiko Matsumoto
Kiiko Matsumoto is a licensed acupuncturist, internationally recognized for her scholarly work interpreting the Chinese Classics and her unique and practical acupuncture style. She is the author of numerous texts on acupuncture in the United States, including the recently acclaimed Kiiko Matsumoto's Clinical Strategies Volumes 1 and 2, and a regular contributor to the prestigious Japanese acupuncture magazine, Ido-No-Nippon. In addition to her private practice in Boston, Massachusetts, Ms. Matsuomoto is frequently asked to teach around the world. She is well-known for her ability to integrate the work of important Japanese masters including Master Nagano, Master Kawai, and Dr. Manaka in a straightforward and practical way. Her passion for the Chinese Classics and powerful teaching style are her trademark.
Some accreditation bodies have course approval expirations. If the approval expires, you will see a notice next to the name with a date of expiration: "[Until YYYY/MM/DD]". Please factor this date into your own renewal deadline. If an approval expires, you will be able to request that it is renewed and we will submit it for you within 2 business days. Renewals normally come back to us after 30 days. If your accreditation body is not listed under the "Approved" section, you may find it under the "Pending" section. That means that it is either currently pending approval, or that it is available for you to request: "[Upon Request]". New course approvals usually come back to us after 45 days. We use an automated system within our platform that allows you to make these requests in an easy and convenient way. Just visit the course page in your Net of Knowledge account and click the "Request Approval" button at the top. Each "Course and CEUs/CPDs" purchase grants you 1 request per accreditation body. If you request a course approval and do not complete it before its new expiration date, you will need to purchase another "CEU/CPD Add-On" to make another request. If the course is ineligible for approval with an accreditation body due to their subject-matter policies, it will be listed as "[Ineligible]", and no requests will be possible for the course.
